Riccardo Colella was born in Lecce on March 12, 1985. He is a Ph.D. Student in Information Engineering at the Department of Innovation Engineering, University of Salento (Lecce). He received the M.Sc. Laurea degree with Honor in Telecommunication Engineering at the same University, in 2010. His thesis concerned the radiofrequency identification (RFID) systems, their applications in the Internet of Things and the study of their potential effect on human tissues. Since September 2007 he collaborates with the Electromagnetic Fields group of the University of Salento. His research activity is focused on the design and optimisation of RFID Sensor-Tags and their applications in healthcare and in Wireless Sensor Networks “WSNs”.  He authored more than 40 papers on international journals and in national and international conferences, 2 chapter books with international diffusion and a Patent. He has been awarded with the prize “Best Thesis on ICT” assigned by CNIT (National Inter-universitary Consortium on Telecommunications), Confindustria and AICA (Italian Association for Informatics and Automated Computing) in 2011. He has has been awarded with the IEEE MTT-S Central-Southern Italy Award in 2013.

Sergio Guglielmi was born in Copertino (Lecce), Italy on March 17th, 1985. In 2003, He received the secondary school diploma from the “Liceo Scientifico Statale Cosimo De Giorgi” (Lecce, Italy). He graduated in Information Engineering (1st level degree) at the Politecnico of Milan (Italy) in 2007 discussing a thesis that investigates LAN services in metropolitan area. In 2010, He received a Laurea Specialistica degree (2nd level) in Telecommunications Engineering from the Politecnico of Milan (Italy) discussing a thesis on the design of a routing protocol to support mobility in Wireless Sensor Networks. He is currently Ph.D student in Information Engineering at the Electromagnetic Fields Laboratory of the Innovation Engineering Department of the University of Salento. His research activities are mainly focused on modelling and design of smart wireless systems  for Wireless Sensor Networks.

Paola Arcuti was born in Galatina (Lecce, Italy) on July 16th, 1982. She received the secondary school diploma from the Istituto Statale d’Arte “G.Toma” (Galatina, Lecce, Italy) with final mark of 94/100. He graduated (cum laude) in Information Engineering (1st level degree) at the University of Lecce (Italy) in 2001 with a thesis concerning the compression of the speech signal based on linear predictive coding. In 2010 she received (cum laude) the second level degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy) discussing a thesis on the design and the optimization of X-Band planar antennas. She is currently Ph.D student in Information Engineering at the University of Salento and her research activity is focused on the design of  implantable wireless systems for medical application.

Rosa De Paolis was born in Galatina (Lecce), Italy, on April 16, 1982. In 2001 she obtained school-leaving certificate at Liceo Scientifico “A. Vallone” in Galatina (Lecce) with final mark of 100/100. In 2005 she received the first level Laurea degree in Information Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Lecce discussing a thesis on the electromagnetic property of Metamaterials. In 2007 she received the second level Laurea degree in Telecommunication Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Salento (Lecce) discussing a thesis on the design of a RF MEMS digital capacitor bank.

She is currently working toward the Ph.D. in Information Engineering at the University of Salento (Lecce). At present her activity is focused on modelling and design of circuits and devices in CRLH and RF MEMS technologies.
